Busabella's First VDub Festival

Image
My friend Lyn and her husband Peter are avid VW campers and hearing of their adventures in their Transporter was the original catalyst for my hankering for our own bus. They love to camp at the various VW festivals held throughout the summer months and suggested that we come along to Dorset Volksfest for our first taster of  the "Vdub" life. We decided to go for the day as we haven't yet completely kitted out Busabella for an proper overnight stay (but we are working on this). Arriving just before midday we were greeted by the sight of a field full of fabulous VW's of every type, age and state of repair, with the beautiful hills of Wareham forest stretching into the background. We paid our £8 (bargain!) each to get in and parked up. Having located Lyn and Peter, we joined them for a cuppa at their lovingly restored VW T4 Transporter, while they gave us the low down on the best bits of the festival. Wandering down to the show area was amazing as it was full

Busabella's First Week

So having half killed ourselves getting Busabella ready for the summer in record time, we thought it was time to go have some R&R. We had worked all day on Saturday with the aim of driving out somewhere in the evening. We parked up right by the shore, opening the tailgate and sliding side door to let the warm sea breeze through. We have decided that we will use that fish and chip shop again as not only was the meal very nice, their bags perfectly matched our interior décor; It was a perfect evening and a beautiful spot to park up. Busabella was getting lots of admiring looks. One lady walked past us and came back se

The Adventures Of Busabella

Once upon a time, not too long ago nor very far away, a day out turned into a bit of a mad adventure.... Around a month ago my husband Rob and I were feeling pretty flat. Our plans to extend the rear of our home hadn't come together and we had no choice but to go back to the drawing board. Neither of us had much enthusiasm for this as it had taken a year to get to this point and now we were faced with starting the process with builders and architects all over again. We decided to go for a day out to get away from it all and chose a place that I had heard was rather wonderful called Sculpture by the Lakes, near Blandford in Dorset. On the way we were chatting about our lack of motivation to move forward with the plans and I jokingly said; "ha ha ha, lets spend the money on a campervan and go have some fun!" Fifteen minutes later we were pulling into the car park at Sculpture on the Lakes and stopped next to a very cool vintage VW campe
